The new ASC base in Gloggnitz is used for the maintenance of the Semmering mountain railway line and the future Semmering base tunnel. The compactly designed building complex consists of a two-track hall with a workshop area and a three-storey office wing, which also includes the rooms of the future fire brigade.
The ground floor area was built in concrete, while the office block was built in wood. Continuous window bands made of glazed wood-aluminium constructions allow generous lighting and visual contact with the surroundings. External venetian blinds serve as sun protection. The façade of the office block was designed as a ventilated façade with exposed timber cladding. Heat for the property is supplied by heat pumps and geothermal energy using deep boreholes as a heat source. The roof areas were extensively greened and equipped with photovoltaic elements.
